Fastnet

2018 round-up

We believe it’s always good to take the time to reflect, evaluate and celebrate. Here in the Fastnet Studio we’ve been taking a look back over a cracking year, and want to thank all of the wonderful clients we’ve worked with, and new faces we’ve met, over the last 12 months.

We’d be here for ages if we went through everything, so we’ve picked a few of our highlights – here’s to a smashing 2019!

The Beginning of 2018

We kicked the year off with a number of Strategy Days, a great way for clients to start the year. These one-to-one sessions between the key decision makers in the business and our Managing Director Sarah involve creative, engaged exercises, advice and discussions, designed to focus the company direction and drive the business forward.

We built them a website, regularly create printed materials and send out monthly newsletters, but our friends at Muddy Beach wanted something new – a car wrap for the Muddy Mobile! It was great fun coming up with this eye-catching design.

We also created clean and crisp new branding for the Jack Gifford Marine Design Studio. Mustard yellow combined with high-end grey resulted in this eye-catching and modern look.

In exciting news for one of our clients, the Azores and Back Yacht Race (AZAB), multihulls will be making an appearance in the 2019 event for the first time in 15 years. To ensure we reached as many potential competitors as possible, we spread the news with blog posts, emails and social media activity.

Four Seasons in One Day

Just as we started to celebrate the lighter evenings and (slightly) warmer days, the bitter Beast from the East reached us, covering even our studio beside the sea in a layer of the white stuff!

We finished and launched a rebuild of the Bowman Yacht Charters website. The new platform was designed to be engaging and informative, driving conversions with clear charter package options and ideas. Our regular content support has since seen their SEO efforts produce excellent results.

The warmer weather finally arrived and our MD, Sarah was delighted to be able to bring out the deckchairs!

On 5th May, Fastnet sponsored the Mylor Yacht Harbour Sailability fundraising party, focused on making sailing accessible to all. A fantastic cause and one we were very proud to support!

Months of hard work with the team at Mylor Yacht Harbour resulted in the launch of their new site. We were able to make the most of their stunning imagery and produced engaging content to create a brochure-style website that inspires visitors and communicates the charm of Mylor life, while clearly outlining the extensive marine services available.

Long, Hot Days of Summer

Brilliant sunshine and light winds graced the Tilley Endurables Falmouth Classics. Our support package includes website, content and event management, and it was great to be involved in yet another outstanding weekend of racing and revelry, with numbers still growing year on year.

We took advantage of the blue skies to do some filming with Bowman Yacht Charters in order to further promote their yacht charters. We edited the footage to create fresh content for their website and social media pages, and got to spend a terrible day out on the Helford 😉

In June we went along to the second Plymouth Marine Tech Expo to network, listen to some fantastic speakers from the industry, and get up close with the latest marine technology.

We had our summer team social in a very Cornish way – a BBQ on the beach at sunset!

The Yacht Drop project went live – this unique business approached us to create a bespoke ecommerce platform to supply stores to charter yachts in the Mediterranean. We love a challenge, and it was great to build this innovative site, as well as create bold, contemporary branding to help them stand out from the crowd.

Our redesigned website for the Classic Channel Regatta made its debut at the end of the summer. We streamlined their site map, and created a French version of the site to boost engagement and encourage a wider audience to take part in the next event.

Shorter Days and the Christmas Countdown

By the time the leaves started to turn, we were launching a new website for Newlyn Harbour. Clear, informative copy combined with new branding, an engaging design and a responsive build has helped to communicate the Harbour’s messages to the local community and beyond.

Our MD Sarah was listed in Cornwall Live’s 35 under 35!

After the successful launch of the WaveWalker BV site, it was great to have the chance to create some interactive printed materials for an important overseas trade show. We’ve also got some video and photography sessions lined up for 2019 with WaveWalker BV and one of their parent companies Fugro – watch this space for more info!

In November we held our second Cornwall Marine Conference. Building on the 2018 event, this year we had more speakers, more attendees and of course, more wine and pasties! The feedback has been great, and we’re already making plans for CMC 2019. If you’d like to be among the first to know when the tickets are released, why not get in touch with the Fastnet team and ask to be added to the mailing list.

After developing their innovative generator replacement technology ‘Integrel’, our friends at Triskel Marine approached us for a brand new site for both Integrel and Triskel, as well as the design and creation of new branding. This was followed by ongoing content and event support, including the METSTRADE show stand that made up part of their entry for the international DAME Design Award.

Several months of work came to fruition when they were awarded Overall Winner of the DAME Design Award for Integrel.  It was wonderful to see everyone’s hard work pay off!

An interesting project for the Society Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors (SOMWS) has recently completed. Their new website includes members-only functionality and a surveyor search facility that can be easily and quickly accessed by users, and updated by the SOMWS team.

The end of the year brought the festive season and the team celebrated with the Christmas party! Of course, no end-of-year celebration would be complete with another essential part of Fastnet – the furry team members!

We’ve had so much fun this year, learned lots and grown as a team. We’re now looking forward to 2019 and all the things we have lined up, such as the launch of our video channel including podcasts and our brand new building which will have meeting and conference rooms and a very exciting innovative media suite – all to be announced next year, so watch this space!
